Our Role: We were responsible for all glulam elements of this project. Our install required the use of a spider crane along with platforms to enable the laminated timber portal frames to not only be positioned correctly to form the walkway but also for the flitch plate connections to be fastened which connected the glulam thus forming the frames. The posts and rafters used on this project were rather sizeable members (all GL28H strength grade) coming out at 240mm wide by 260mm deep. There was a total of 57 brackets, 62 resin anchors and 210 bolts required on this job, all supplied by us with a number of base shoes, flitch plates & brackets pre-fitted here in our factory in order to reduce the installation time on site.

Outcome: Due to the prestigious nature of the project the manufacturing was carried out to an impeccably high standard as evidenced by the plaudits we received from the client. “We found Constructional Timber to be very pro-active in the whole process from beginning to end. In particular we were impressed with their determination seeing the design on this challenging project, through to completion. The end product is very good and is one of the key features of the new building and compliments the Cathedral setting very well.”
