St George's Park

St. George’s Park is the new training home for the 24 England teams and is the best centre for coach education in the world. Constructional Timber were responsible for the supply of a number of 250mm diameter Canadian Douglas Fir engineered timber columns, these were used to support both the roofing structures around the buildings and the porte cochere structure.

Galvanized steel components (base shoes & top connections-as specified by the designer) were resin bonded into the glulam timber columns so showing no visible fixings. The brackets were a male-to-female pinned connection so that the steelwork contractor could install the columns with ease. For aesthetic purposes the columns were tapered at both the top and bottom from 250mm diameter to 175mm diameter over 1.070m.
