As the client was a founding member of the chain of custody scheme. All timbers were supplied with full certification.

The roof had 828 glulam members in it which equated to 219m3 of timber and a staggering 7,206 bolts. The project has a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating and 99% of construction waste was diverted from landfill. The building is a learning centre open to the public.

 

The project also included 240 steel nodes to make up the gridshell roof. This was then covered by 90m3 of Ultralam LVL boarding.

The building received the Highly Commended Prize in the Commercial & Public Access category at the Wood Awards 2014.
